The Völkl RTM 81 Skis + iPT Wide Ride 12.0 Bindings make good use of Völkl's unique 3D.RIDGE technology, which uses a central ridge along the length of the ski as a backbone with ultra thin profiles at the edges of the ski. This enables them to dramatically reduce the mass, making for a more nimble ride without a loss of power or stability. The RTM 81 and its Powered by Steel construction loves to charge the front side of the mountain, but doesn't shy away from softer variable snow, either.
3D Ridge Construction - Heralded as the most effective construction design ever put out by Volkl engineering, 3D Ridge Construction is characterized by a central ridge, responsible for torsional stiffness. The bisecting ridge drops off abruptly on either side of the ski, to an extremely thin, beveled edge. The profile of the ski edges are dramatically reduced by this removal of non-essential core material, resulting in knife-like penetration through deep snow, crud or slush. A full sheet of Titanium maintains rigidity in these reduced profile areas, for confidence inspiring stability on the steeps.
Powered by Steel - A sheet of steel gives the RTM 81’s a balanced and stable feel running flat at speed, and through high edge angle turns.
3D Ridge Core - By removing non-essential mass from the core of the ski, the 3D Ridge Core significantly increases agility and maneuverability without conceding stability or edge grip. A full sheet of Titanium upholds the consistent edge contact at all edge angles, for which the Volkl RTM skis are known.
XTD Tip and Tail Rocker - Ease of turn initiation is preserved in the 2016 Volkl RTM series by pressing early rise in to the tip and tail of the ski. This profile is beneficial in making turns of any radius length, regardless of terrain conditions.
Camber - Edge grip on hard snow is an essential characteristic of any all-mountain ski. The RTM 81’s cambered under-foot profile distributes your weight along the length of the ski edge, resulting in vastly improved edge hold for 2016.
